How to attract advertisers for your site!

Build a site with plenty of content
Firstly it's pretty obvious that you need to build a site with plenty of content. You'll also need to have a targeted audience in mind from the outset. My site was aimed at the beginner to intermediate ASP developer.

Promote the site
You’ll need to promote the site in search engines, directories and exchange links with other similar sites and build up the site's reputation.

Look for similar sites on a related subject and advertisers
To source advertisers look for those who are currently running ad campaigns on sites related to your topic. This way you know what companies will be receptive to your inquiry. Make a list of all the companies that you intend to contact. It's a good idea to also make a note of those companies that you do contact for future reference. You can note the date and whether you received a response amongst other things.

Contact advertisers – send an introductory email
Contact those advertisers on the list either by email or phone. Below is a sample email that might give you some guidance on what to send.

My name is Michael Wall, I am the owner and founder of the website www.Codefixer.com which offers ASP tutorials, articles and resources aimed at the beginner to intermediate ASP.

I am actively looking for an advertiser for an available slot on my site (state which slot is available and provide a screenshot is appropriate). The slot is exclusive and non-rotating and sold on a month by month basis.

To give you a brief overview of the stats, the site currently receives around 1,400 unique visitors per day - nearly 10,000 per week. This provides a great opportunity for you to reach a targeted audience of ASP developers and gives excellent brand recognition and visibility.

I have also launched a series of ASP.Net tutorials aimed at the beginner to intermediate ASP.NET developer http://www.codefixer.com/asp_net/index.asp. This series of tutorials will continue to grow and provide a comprehensive introduction into ASP.Net.

I have also introduced 3 new free editions of software such as MembersPro free membership application. As the software is free I have also coupled it with a request to visit our sponsors which is popular with our advertisers. Hopefully in the future I can offer more free editions and more traffic to potential advertisers.

The site has a PR ranking of 5 and scores well in SERPs for it’s targeted keywords.
