FontHit Font Tools is a streamlined font management software package that is designed for virtually unlimited functionality via a flexible plugin framework.
With the currently available plugins you can view, preview, install, uninstall, print in color, customize size and text of the previews, browse your hard drive and view fonts in convenient categories, use drag-'n-drop to add font files (even folders and zip files with fonts) to the preview list. You can also search the web for fonts and font-related webpages right from within the Font Tools, using the FontHit Search plugin.
FontHit Font Tools supports various font formats such as True Type, Open Type (not multiple master, yet), most Raster(Bitmap) and installed Type 1.
Font Manager Plugin:
- Support for *.otf, *.ttf true type font formats, and most *.fon files.
- View installed fonts.
- Preview supported files before installing.
- Uninstall installed fonts to a backup folder, for ability to reinstall them later.
- Browse your computer and install with one click.
- Alternatively, use drag-'n-drop capability to add font files and folders or .zip files with fonts in them for viewing/previewing and
installation/uninstallation.
- Preview a custom text, for example most of the font's characters.

FontMap may be used to view and print both installed and external fonts; it can display a table, individual characters, a keyboard view, font description, or whatever text you wish to enter. Individual characters can be displayed in a "full-screen" view and custom table parameters can be set to "zoom" in on a selected portion of a font. National character sets and unicode characters available for a font may also be displayed.
For an individual font most all of the views that are displayed can be printed - this includes a variety of table formats, text, a keyboard view, font description, and installation information. Multiple fonts can be printed in either a brief or "verbose" format. If you have a CD (or whatever) with a bunch of fonts on it, you can easily print a sample of all the fonts it contains without needing to install them. Or, you can browse thru the fonts and selectively install the ones you like.
For those of us who like to see characters in a larger format, FontMap can be used in place of CharMap. It may also be used as your default TTF viewer.
